Comfort exellent loc.ation fantastic house made to feell at home.would definatly return.
The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful - nothing was a problem. The quality and service of the breakfast and dinner we had was excellent.
The staff were excellent and they made us feel very welcome. It was a very intimate experience. Very cosy and warm with the open fires. The food was excellent and the bedroom had plenty of room and very open and light.
A wonderful, classy country house in northern Ireland. An excellent staff with great taste...excellent breakfast and dinner and wonderful, peaceful country surroundings. Great history behind this country house....you won't be disappointed!
great location, very friendly staff and excellent food - a real treat.
We arrived late in the evening and still got a very warm welcome, which was lovely as we were very tired. Breakfast was delicious and the service was lovely.
The only thing that I felt would have been nice would have been help with our luggage as I was 7 months pregnant and had to carry a case down a flight of stairs.
The surrounding gardens of Ardtara House are very welcoming and comforting as you drive through, entering the estate. The House is very well maintained and the staff are very helpful. The food was outstanding in every way and when I spoke to the Chef I understood why. His passion for gourmet food shone through every word he spoke. The prices were amazing for such quality, it was one of the best experiences we've had in Ireland.
The only problem I found was not knowing where to go, there was a lack of direction.
Personal service and attanetion to detail.
Would definitely use this hotel again due to exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and excellent dinner. Bedroom was lovely with fire and lamps lit prior to my arrival. Very welcoming.
Wi-fi didn't work in my room due to poor signal strength but it works better in other rooms so will ask for this next time I book.
It was a wonderful place, with wonderful staff in a wonderful setting. I would definitely stay there again and reccommened it to all of my friends. Really really relaxing, warm and inviting. Can't say enough positive things about this place.
I don't think there was a hairdryer in the room (though I could have missed it)
Friendly and welcoming staff with that personal touch. Food and rooms excellent. Highly recommended for a relaxing break. (Taffy)
The room was lovely, the bed was firm but not a rock, the bathtub (not one of the rolltops) was large and comfy, the water was hot and there was good water pressure. Breakfast was normal British Isles fare but having some fresh fruit and cheese made it a bit more special, although not that spectacular. We never ate a dinner but did have a soup and a whiskey one night for 10 pounds each. The soup was good but nothing to write home about.
The interior of Northern Ireland just doesn't have the same splendor that the exterior has. And Ardtara is located in the interior. The nearby towns are utilitarian (I.E., the make their money off of farming, etc, not tourism) and don't have the same "quaint feeling" you get from exterior (tourism driven) towns. Couple that with the hour drive to get to Giant's Causeway or the a2 scenic drive, we didn't much care for the location of Ardtara and would have preferred to spend our stay at a seaside town... Even if that meant giving up the luxuries of staying at a "country house." All in all, we had no complaints but weren't wowed in any way and would have preferred to be on the beautiful coast as opposed to the flat farm lands that stink of cow leavings.
Dinner was absolutely outstanding. All of us had great meals.
Decor a little run down in parts. Part of the charm!
Beautiful location, great rooms with a really comfortable bed, delicious food and very friendly staff. In one word: Amazing!
I only found one single flaw with the stay, and it is so minor that it's almost silly (the soap holder in the bathroom didn't have a drainhole, so it filled up with water easily) - but then again, it shows how truly amazing this place is!
Hotel and rooms, staff, restaurant.
